These whimsical structures, known as Futuro houses, were designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen. Resembling flying saucers, the pre-fabricated plastic pods were originally built for use as ski chalets. They were constructed of a lightweight material adaptable to any terrain, so investors thought they would make perfect guest houses at the Wanli UFO Village in Taiwan, a proposed beachside vacation resort.
With interiors boasting a sitting area, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, who wouldn’t want to send photos home of such a unique, out-of-this-world getaway?
Unfortunately, the investors suffered financial issues, and the UFO village never got off the ground. These fiberglass oddities now stand abandoned in a state of decay.
