It is a total mess now, but this c.1922 Burbank, South Dakota, abandoned farm saw a family through the Great Depression, the dust bowl of the 1930s ( yes, it did hit the Dakotas), and the blizzard of 1966. Now we can almost hear the wind whistling through the broken barn boards and mice scurrying along the hardwood floors. What nature hasn’t destroyed, vandals have. Even in its dilapidated condition, however, the silo stands proud, and the property still exudes a haunting beauty.
